Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission. "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word."

~ Catechism of the Catholic Church 1213

Infants and Children under age 7

Whether you are expecting a child, have a newborn, or are seeking baptism for a child under 7 years old, we congratulate you and are here to support you as you prepare for the baptism of your child.

Baptisms for infants and children up to 7 years of age are scheduled in a communal celebration on certain Saturdays of the month at 11:00 am. Baptisms are not celebrated during Lent.

Baptism Preparation Session

The role of parents and godparents in the child's life of faith is to teach and lead by example, what it means to live a Catholic Christian Life. Your faith is important.  Parents and godparents are to attend a Baptismal Preparation session before selecting a baptism date. If godparents do not live locally, they should seek and attend a Baptismal Preparation session at their own parish. Classes at St. Anthony take place once a month and parents/godparents will register at the Parish Office for the class of their choice.

Only one godparent is necessary, but a child may have two godparents.  If there is only one godparent, that person may be male or female.  If there are two godparents, there should be one male, one female.

A Catholic godparent must be a fully initiated Catholic (baptized, has received the Holy Eucharist, and is Confirmed.) If married, the marriage must be recognized as valid by the Catholic Church.

A non-Catholic baptized Christian may serve alongside a qualified Catholic godparent as a Christian Witness.
